NLWLC Coaching Courses Information

These courses provide coached work schedules with planned progression of exercises for skill acquisition and strength development. Payment is expected on booking. Members receive discount.

Course One

Introduction to Olympic Weightlifting

Learning to lift
12 sessions* of 90 mins based on 2 sessions per week
6 week course
Non-Members £180.00

This course is designed for someone who has not had any technical training in the skill of Weightlifting but who has a basic fitness of conditioning with free weights
Each session will begin with an assessment, reviewing movement patterns, flexibility, and strengths.
The session will then progress through the disciplines of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, it’s variations and derivatives. The session will be split into two parts: Technical training and Strength & Conditioning.

Technical training will develop skills related directly to the competition lifts.
The S&C element of the class will aim develop your entire physique, to enable you to handle greater loads, increase movement, speed, and strength. This section will teach and progress pushing and pulling movements such as squats, deadlifts, presses, pull-ups etc.

*This is an estimate of how many sessions you may require to progress through to the next level of the NLWLC courses. The coach may request you stay in these classes for longer to fully understand the technical lifts and improve strength.

Course Two

Novice Lifter

Training towards a competition
12 sessions** of 2hrs – based on 2 sessions per week
6 week course

A more competitive environment, with greater work-load for the ambitious lifter. This level of course will prepare you for your first NLWLC ‘Benchmark Series’ Competition where you will compete amongst your training partners. These courses will be more intense and you will be taught the importance of periodization training towards reaching peak performance at competition, just like the way top-level Weightlifting athletes train. The coach explain how to prepare mentally and physically for competition.

**This is the most frequently repeated course. It’s a comfortable class to stay in for longer than one cycle as developing the body for greater demands can take time.

Course Three

Prospect Lifter

Intermediate
3 Courses – Levels 1, 2 & 3 progression
12 sessions of 2hrs (3 per week – 4weeks)
Members only £60

Includes individual training program
Includes discount entry fee into Club ‘Benchmark Series & Open’ competition.

This course is designed for lifters with some competition experience, who will be guided through weekly and monthly training schedules and who are targeting Regional Championships and Open competitions. Video feedback analysis will be employed to enhance technical skills and intensive exercises will ensure progressive strength improvements.
This course is by invitation/approval of the coach. After each cycle of training you will compete against another BWL club within the UK. For members only.

Course Four

Competition Lifter

Regular & regional team competitor
20 sessions of 2hrs (5 per week – 4weeks)
Members only £60
Includes individual training program
Includes discount entry fee into Club ‘Benchmark Series & Open’ competition.
Includes video analysis and session with BWL regional Squad Coach.

You will become part of an Elite Squad of lifters who will compete at National and International competitions. By invitation/approval of the coach.

Coached Personal (one-to-one) Sessions:

Non-Members – 90 mins - £45
Members – 90 mins - £25

These are one-to-one sessions with a coach that will tailor for all of your requirements.

Coached Personal (one-to-one) - Block sessions

6 session blocks of 90mins
Non-Members £225
Members £120

These are block discounted one-to-one sessions with a coach that will tailor for all of your requirements.

Casual Training Sessions

Non-coached training in the club area, not bookable, check availability on the day.
Members only - £5 per hour.
Note: athletes being coached will have priority usage of the platforms.

Courses for Athletes

A series of courses are being planned specifically towards athletes and their events.
These Strength & Conditioning Courses will include the basics of Olympic Weightlifting

NOTE:
All NLWLC memberships and courses are not inclusive of entry fees to Lee Valley Athletics Centre. This is a separate membership that needs to be arranged by the individual.

ALL NLWLC COURSE FEES TO BE PAID IN ADVANCE.

The club facilities will be available from Monday to Friday - 6 to10pm, Some Saturdays - 8am to 12.30pm. Participants to all courses will be coached as part of a small group, and possibly be sharing a platform unless they have booked one-to-one personal training. Coaching course schedules will be published on the club website and on the club noticeboard soon.
